Crayon’s always-on competitive agents

Covered by Signal Brief for B2B SaaS product managers — one of 5 tools in Issue #7 · crayon.co

What it does

Crayon launched competitive agents on Friday that watch rivals around the clock — changelogs, pricing pages, review sites, job postings, ad copy — and deliver a morning brief on what changed, what it signals, and which of your active deals or segments it touches. Rather than alerting on every mention, the agents rank each move by relevance to the accounts and markets you track, and they draft battlecard updates for sales when a competitor’s positioning shifts. Crayon says the agents cut brief production from days to minutes, and the capability begins rolling out to all customers this week.

Why it matters for PMs

Differentiation is a roadmap input, not a marketing exercise — knowing a competitor just shipped your Q4 item changes what you should build next, and learning about it a quarter late is expensive. Always-on monitoring collapses that lag from a quarterly review to a morning read. And the pattern cuts both ways: your changelog, pricing page, and job postings are now being read by competitors’ agents every morning too — they are product surfaces, so write them like it.
