Dovetail’s always-on research agents

What it does
Dovetail launched research agents on Monday that run continuously instead of per project: they ingest interviews, surveys, and support conversations as they happen, cluster them into themes, and maintain a constantly updated evidence base where every insight links back to the exact quotes and clips behind it. Ask “what have enterprise admins said about onboarding this quarter?” and the agent answers with receipts — segments, frequency, and verbatim evidence — and flags where the evidence is thin rather than papering over gaps. The agents respect existing access controls, and the capability ships on Dovetail’s Business plan.
Why it matters for PMs
Discovery usually starts cold: a PM joins a project and spends two weeks re-reading transcripts to learn what is already known. A continuously updated evidence base turns “do we have evidence for this?” from a research project into a query — and it changes roadmap politics, because the burden of proof shifts to whoever is arguing against the evidence. One caution: the agents are only as good as what you pipe in. If support conversations are not flowing into the same store as interviews, the always-current picture has blind spots.
