LaunchDarkly AI Configs hits general availability

Covered by Signal Brief for B2B SaaS product managers — one of 5 tools in Issue #7 · launchdarkly.com

What it does

LaunchDarkly announced general availability of AI Configs on Monday — its control plane for AI features, where model selection, prompt versions, and guardrail settings are managed as flags. Eval gates can block a rollout if quality scores regress, automatic fallback switches to a known-good model when error rates spike in production, and teams can A/B models against each other on live traffic while comparing cost, latency, and quality per variant. A prompt rolls back in seconds with no deploy. GA adds the audit trails compliance teams ask for and is available on Enterprise plans starting today.

Why it matters for PMs

If your roadmap includes AI features — and in 2026 B2B SaaS, it does — the risky part is no longer the model call, it is the rollout: which model, which prompt, which guardrails, and how fast you can back out when quality dips. Treating those as flags instead of deploys turns model swaps into Tuesday-afternoon decisions instead of release events. The eval gate is the piece worth stealing: shipping AI changes without an automated quality gate is now a choice, not a default.
